The Top 3…

Coming into day one Jeff Baird – Jason Wittwer, put up a great bag of 17.47 which included a big bass of 4.46. They were off to a great start but talking with Jeff the morning of day 2 he knew his team had work to do with big guns like Justin Kerr – Jonathan Schuyler, Ryan Yamagata – Dean Yamagata, Phillip Roesener – Dale Roesener, and Hermie Romero – Michael Romero right in the mix. Jeff and Jason went to work coming to the scale day two with an awesome 21.97 LB bag which included a 4.46 big bass just short of yet another Yamagata lead putting them in second place and setting up the Yamagata’s for a potential Desert Dash Championship repeat. As it would un-fold, Jeff and Jason got through the rest of the weigh in falling just one more place to a 3rd place finish overall with a two-day total of 39.44 LBS, great job!

Kicking off the event with 15.23, Justin Kerr – Jonathan Schuyler were sitting right in the mix going into day two but was among teams in contention ranging from 14 LBS all the way to 21 LBS. I have no doubt this team knew they had to drop the hammer and did they ever! Coming into day two weigh in, Justin and Jonathan dropped an amazing 24.30 LB bag on the scale which included the day two big SM of 4.90! That catapulted this team to 1st place crushing the potential Yamagata repeat. With just a couple teams left on deck, this team fell to the runners-up overall at the hands of the stars of DD4, finishing up with a two-day total of 39.53, just 2.04 LBS off the lead as it would turn out. Great job!

Getting registered at literally the last possible moment, this team were not sure if they were going to make it. I am certain they have no regrets today! Starting off day one on Lake Mead this team brought in a very rare 21.54 LB bag which included a 6.66 LB tank of a LM! Going into day two with a 4 LB lead, this team clearly knew they were not safe. As they got their day started, at some point, lost the trolling motor, like they needed more pressure!! In speaking with some of the staff later, we learned this team literally needed to pause just outside the marina to collect themselves and try to calm their nerves, what an awesome feeling, I am sure! As they came to the dock of course the buzz was on with them finding out Justin and Jonathan had just dropped a 24 LB bag on the scale and was sitting in 1st place. As they stepped up to the stage I informed them they needed 18 LBS to take home the win; they looked on with little emotion. We weighed in their big bass of 4.33 and then got to it. Looking at their bag it would appear it was going to be real close but I dropped all 5 bass on the scale, they got it done! Finishing up day two with 20.03, Robbie and Derek secured the Championship! Back to back 20+ LB bags AND the event overall big bass of 6.66 LBS, with a two day total of 41.57! And it didn’t stop there! As we moved through awards, Robbie also picked up the AAA entry into the 2024 US Open this October on Mohave. Great job guys, hell of a weekend!

Congrats to Markus Avalos, one half of Team “Young Guns” who picked up the Pro entry into the 2024 US open! So happy for this young angler and can’t wait to see how he does in October!

Congrats to Hermie Romero – Michael Romero picking up the Dash Jackpot Bonus of $1,900!

Congrats to all the other winners!
