The last event of the Nevada Summer Session is in the books. The weather was great, some wind but nothing anyone couldn’t handle.

We had 11 boats for the last event today, and AOY was still up for grabs.

Heading into today’s event Wayne St. John & Robert Shoessler held onto a 5-point lead over the team of Dean & Ryan Yamagata (Perennial Studs).

There were only 3 limits of bass brought to the scales today. The smallest of those 3 limits were caught by Jason Bryan & Markus Avalos. We only had 5 bites and were able to boat all 5 fish today. Our weight of 13.33 anchored by a 4.54 largemouth was good enough for 3rd place and $450 in total winnings. $200 for First out of the Money (Sponsored by 24/7 Heating & AC), $200 for Smallest 5 fish limit (Sponsored by Mtn Pine Construction) and $50 for Added Money for 2nd & 3rd (Sponsored by B&E Auto).

Jonathan Schuyler (fishing solo today) had the next biggest limit of bass. His total weight of 14.82 was enough to grab 2nd place and place money of $480, and $50 for Added Money for 2nd & 3rd (Sponsored by B&E Auto) bringing his total winnings to $530 for today.

The biggest limit of the day and enough for 1st place was 15.43 brought in by one of our sponsors, John Mackey (Mtn Pine Construction) and his partner Russell Vansickle. They earned $1093 for 1st place money, $220 (Nevada ABA Sponsor) for a grand total of $1313.

Stephan Camden & Justin Campbell weighed in the biggest fish of the day, a largemouth just under 5lbs at 4.90. This one bass earned them $264.

Father and son team of Mike and Cody Steckel had 2nd big fish of the day and pocketed $176.

There were also 2 random prized given away today. The first prize was won by Darren Wilson and Paul Price; (2) Annual ABA memberships. The second prize was a $100 box of baits provided by our local soft bait manufacturer and an ABA sponsor Get Out & Fish Baits, USA. I caught my 4.54 largemouth today on one of Get Out & Fish Baits. The team of Wayne St. John & Robert Shoessler were able to hang on to win the Angler of Year honors. Great Job Wayne & Rob. I wouldn’t give Dean & Ryan to many chances to make a comeback as they are liable to bring in a big bag at any time. Wayne & Rob will get their basic entry fee paid for each event of the next season and they are awarded a automatic spot in the Bass Cat shootout and a chance to win a boat in the ABA Championship weekend coming up November 11th-13th.

I want to thank all the anglers that came out and supported this team circuit this year. You have all had great sportsmanship, there wasn’t one issue brought up at any event, nor was there any complaints about any other angler or anything else that I noticed. Many of you offered and helped with breaking down and putting away the scales and equipment after each event or helping with checking in boats at the end of the day. This is a huge help for Markus and I, we are very fortunate and appreciate all that you have done to help us out, Thank you.

I have posted on the https://www.abanevadaregion.com/ home page next seasons schedule and a list of sponsors and added payouts. Next season could have some huge turnouts and some great paydays. Please tell all of your angling friends that like to fish team events about this circuit and maybe we can bring some of the glory days back when team events had 50,60 and more boats at each derby.

Lastly, this being my first year as tournament director for an ABA region I initially was worried about coming up with sponsors to help the payouts for each event. My worries were not needed as the list of sponsors below stepped up and without hesitation offered to give support to this circuit and all of its anglers.

Mr. Richard Johnson, your willingness to donate a mystery box of baits for every event this season was awesome. I know I couldn’t wait to see what was in each box every event, and we finally won one of these boxes this week. I was not disappointed. I caught by big fish today on one of your reaper baits. (I will be ordering more of this color soon.) I know everyone who won one of these boxes has put your baits to work for them. Thank you for stepping up and giving your support. I hope we can count of your support in our next season as well.

Lastly, no really. Mr. Markus Avalos, thank you for agreeing to help me as my assistant tournament director. We started out with a few bumps but by the last event we were a well-oiled machine. We started the season on the water with a good finish but then had some tough derby’s where we didn’t catch them very good (or at all). We able to salvage our season with two good finishes in the last 2 events and I am looking forward to fishing the Championship together. I am going to hold you to what we talked about for our game plan and expect you to hold me to it as well.

Keep fishing everything you can, you are already a great angler, you will only get better the more time you spend on the water.

I have to give a big shout out and thank you to your parents Tim & Judy, their willingness to drive you 35 miles to my house at 2 or 3 in the morning is awesome. You are lucky to have parents that are so supporting of your passion to fish.

There were 6 events and 6 different winning teams.

There are 9 teams that qualified for ABA Classic.

No team was able to bring a limit to the scales in every event.
